compatibility. some programs just aren't going to work. i guess its come a long way and is still getting there but you'll have programs that just won't work. but i guess these cpu's are actually low battery usage beasts and should be fine for most.

If you're not gaming and Windows ARM isn't a deal breaker, the A16 is a much better computer.

I'm not going to game on this laptop. It is hard to know which program won't work past 15-day return windows. ASUS or Windows can stop supporting ARM-based processors, as it suits them (money talks), and ASUS warranty claims (heard enough bad things but never experienced yet). Linux support is not going to happen in the near future as well. So if Windows pulls the plug in the next version, Windows 12...this will be $1500 dead weight and only works on Windows 11 (this is mostly fear, but it may never happen).

It is a mix bag when it comes to getting too hot. Hopefully MSI brings a better price at Thanksgiving, since the $400 off coupon came twice (both times the promo lasted for 20-30 days).

9523MT/s is crazy fast. It's part of why the A16 feels so snappy, also that X2E94100 has some crazy high memory bandwidth!

That "if" is doing a lot of work. Microsoft's own first party devices run Windows on ARM so I don't see them dropping support.

pulled the trigger. looks like it only has one m.2 for the ssd but on the upside its a 2280 so could be worse. gonna upgrade the storage size to pretty much solve its only weakness i can see.

Yeah, I said this is a wild claim, but remember Microsoft dropped Windows Phone (even though they were promising, as I loved Nokia Windows Phone). ASUS is another culprit who doesn't have a good track record of updating software and supporting warranty claims (again, it is based on many people posted here and on Reddit). Microsoft is going all the way on this processor for the Surface Pro series and many other models, so I don't see it is going away anytime in the near future (Microsoft and Google, or big tech, can drop products even if they spend tons of money, as only a smaller percentage of projects become successful).

It was listed for $1500 in August here, so why are they dumping prices so fast where RAM prices are going higher than gold? Obviously they're not selling well (it seems that way).

you'd be surprised about just how many systems run windows arm on the business side of things. microsoft has been making software for arm for a long time now. arm is actually a better architecture.

also i think we are starting to see a crossroads of choosing to eat and get gas vs buy things you want. things are getting more expensive and less people can afford. we are kinda f'd.
