I hope they've improved the cable so it doesn't disintegrate after a few years.

How does it compare to comparable high end Audiotechnica ? Where is it made. ? I have a mid range Audiotechnica made. In Japan. Can not remeber the exact model but I compared it to this brand midrange at that time and liked the Audiotechnica more. Sound stage, highs and lows were more natural and accurate But mids on Sennheiser we're better. Both were enclosed not open back

Very nice price OP . Just wanted to comment on it. Picked up HD600s and a Sonos Era 300 or I'd return both and get these

Ignorance (yours) is indeed bliss.
Different headphones and different audio characteristics and are suited for different genres of music or situations and environment.
When you get a collection of audiophile-level headphones, it is rarely because of a lack of research. If anything it might be because of too much research opening audiophile possibilities (and costs) that you did not know before.

I have the HD8XX, the amp makes a word of difference with these headphones. They scale very well with power.
I am using mine primarily with the XDUOO TA-22 and the combo makes me smile.

I've been looking for a good pair of headphones to use while walking the dog. Which amp would you recommend to go along with these for that purpose?

Cost of materials can't be over $30 lol... I guess if you can explain it without being subjective I would listen to actual science.

For those who are interested in this I recommend you try the HIFIMAN Arya as well. To me the Arya has an expansive soundstage and more detail than HD800. Sennheiser has weaker bass and for my music taste I have to return it.

Probably the best pair of headphones money can buy. I'm still in the sub $200 range of audiophile or else I'd consider. Currently using sennheiser HD 560s with a Qudelix 5k amp and can attest to the comfort and quality of the sennheiser's
