At the risk of stating the obvious and in hopes of preventing other people from making the same "late night small screen no readers" mistake I made the other day, this is for the regular Kindle with the sunken display, not the more premium Kindle Paperwhite with, among other improvements, the nice flush display.

Also, this is the 12th gen version from 2024, which is more than adequate! But you should know that the 2026 13th gen (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FXJ9PGSJ) is coming out in a few weeks. Up to you if it's worth the price difference.

Also note that at this very moment there's a jailbreak for current versions called Vera. This may or may not have been a factor in me opting for the 2024 PW6 model.

It allows you, among other things, to run an alternative reader app called Koreader which endless customization options.

One small improvement by way of example is that I can rotate my screen both 180 degrees so I can move it over to the other side in bed. It's a small thing but really useful to me.

A YouTuber by the name of DammitJeff has a great video on it.
