I picked these up in the same deal last month, and have made a great upgrade for the bookshelf speakers I was using for FR/FL, and was definitely worth the price. That said, I wish I had known that the CF-70 would have a deal soon after; I would have chosen that instead (for only slightly more).
$200 is about all these are worth. I swear my $200 Polk bookshelves sound as good if not better.
Not sure which Polks you have but I would not be surprised. Generally towers are for louder playback levels and deeper/more bass but at budget levels some inexpensive towers can't really play louder and in some cases the typical extra bass is not a big bonus.
