As a kid I vividly remember Windows Media Center (Vista and then Windows 7). We had a Sony all in one with built in tv tuner.
The amount of times my dad went to use the computer and the hard drive would be full with all the pbs shows I would record (Arthur, ruff ruff man). Man life was so simple back then…😂
I think despite how crappy windows has become the fact I grew up with windows at school and at home was what made me hold onto a windows laptop for so long. Off my tangent for now
If they MUST have atsc 3.0 then they should not be able to force encryption. Free actualy means something. Its not a upgrade but more a death nail to the once free tv airwaves. IMHO if they Must have the encryption, I would ask the fcc to sell of the bandwidth and just be done with it.. Whats next encryped radio? There is another compeating tech "5g" tv that is also being concidered. It will not be encrypted.
ATSC 1 could do mpg4 over the air as it is set up now and would work with most android based sets..
Broadcasters not have to go to atsc 3 they just want it to force everyone in to continuing to pay the retransmission fees that the local stations now depend on...
Make the once free over the air tv as inconvienant as possible to use.
Walmart to this day has no atsc3 sets to sell you either, but the broadcasters want to kill atsc1 in 2028..
They definatly dont want anymous users so they can show advertisers who is watching....

Someone mentioned putting some type of fan pointing at the tablo, is it a heat problem, or some other component in the device, that fails? If only 42 percent of people give this product 5 stars on Amazon , and 24 percent give it 1 star ... is it user error or product error?
Also, confused about 2 things. Does this come with 14 free tv guide , some people say NO, just 3 days free guide. Also can it record streaming stuff or not, some say YES and others seem to say it only records OTA content.
Can it record Youtube videos, Netflix, amazon prime, paramount , tubi. What exactly do some people mean when they say it can record streaming channels?
If no external antenna is attached to this device, what can it record ... what have you found by experimenting with device. If you have internet connection, what can you record without external antenna?
i own a tivo roamio and it only records OTA content, and I have homerun stuff, .. and amazon recast device, all I have recorded was just OTA content, does this Tablo record streaming stuff, yes or no.

EDIT: I take that back. One of them does have DVR in theory. But the reviews are beyond trash. Illiterate manual. Terrible beyond belief. Clearly they dropped a bag of cash at someone's feet if they've got approval and not HD Homerun.
