They just have different use cases. The butane canisters are pretty fool proof and imho less likely to clog. The white fuel is theoretically easier for international travel when you may have to adapt to different fuel types on the go. I still use a 30+ year MSR whisperlite because it still works and I'm dialed in on how much fuel I'll need.

Sure, but those typically use more fuel. If you are backpacking for more than a few days, fuel becomes a problem. I've compared this stove to cheapies like the BRS and fuel usage is very different (pocket rocket uses less).

I have a hard time believing this, but happy to be proven wrong. More fuel = bigger flame. I use the cheap one weekly to roast marshmallows with my son. It's a weekend thing we do together. Anyway, I can get the flame quite low, like barely lit with the $9 one I bought. I can also crank the flame up if I want - the control is quite good I've found. I use it about 5 mins per week and have for at least 6 months and my canister still feels full of fuel.

Its not just about burning gas. There's wind resistance, air to gas ratio. We backpack a lot, and when your 10 days out, it's important to have a fuel efficient stove (pr is mid field) . Lots of people measure these things, including me. I even test out pots to see if heat exchangers are worth their extra weight given the fuel they save. I have a cheapo, a pocket rocket 2, jetboil and older white gas stoves for higher elevation mountaineering. The cheapo (aolto or some) burns 2x the gas of my jetboil and 1.5x the pocket rocket 2.

Yeah, I've owned a cheapo knockoff as well as this. The Pocket Rocket is significantly better. More consistent, strong flame.
