I have the previous generation BP9000 series speakers and have really enjoyed them. One thing to keep in mind is that these have their own amp for the built in sub, which has its advantages and disadvantages. They have strong bass but the speakers must be plugged in and the amp is much more likely to fail compared to a normal passive speaker. However, DefTech has been great when I did have a failure in mine they sent me a replacement amp free of charge even though I was well outside of the warranty period.

Also keep in mind that these are bipolar so they have rear firing drivers and as such you'll want them away from the wall a bit.

Electronics expo has the same DM10 center for $199 right now, so you can complete the set for $1200.

I got an older used pair bipolar floor standing, each with 4x 6.5" and 2x 1" for $400 and it included a receiver. Facebook marketplace.

I don't like the fact that it has an active subwoofer as it's a point of failure, and annoying or difficult to replace. I don't think subs belong in speakers.

Agreed. The only time I'd buy a tower with a built in "sub" is if my spouse was holding a gun to my head AND if the towers were for music only, not movies. Built in "subs" are just dumb sales gimmicks used to justify stupidly inflated prices. Although I have to say, at $500 a pop these aren't THAT terrible...I would never ever pay anywhere close to their MSRP though.

I'd pay $500 for two. But for tiny 4.5" speakers, at this price I'd probably pass.

Oh I didn't read the description carefully...yikes, only 4.5" woofers??? That really really sucks. It means DT is really going for the clueless WAF-driven consumer market with this one, even more so than usual. Surprised they aren't selling well enough to not need this much discounting, considering how rich and deep that particular market niche is...but I suppose most of those folks just buy soundbars and Sonos type crap nowadays.
