It's so interesting seeing these energy deals pop up. I remember when the 5 system was absolute king of the small systems. I'm currently running energy micros with a RSL speed woofer, and those things are still amazing for their tiny size when paired with a good woofer.

I bought the rc70 tower, center, and bookshelf deal for $800 and also bought an rsl 10s mkii woofer.

Id have taken this deal over it though to save a bit of money on the receiver even if it's more of an entry level receiver. I ended up getting an excellent condition marantz 6015 for $550 which wasn't terrible considering the price of new receivers nowadays.

I just wish I'd have looked at FB marketplace first because there was a practically new 12s for the price of the 10s mkii. The 10s mkii is still great though and sounds good.

I also did end up buying an unopened new svs sb5000 revolution for $1300 on market place and got a pretty good set up now.

Edit: My brain did not register that these are different than the Energy RC set that I bought so I've know clue what the quality of these speakers are compared to the RC set. Please disregard my original comment. I would still look on FB marketplace though as there are a lot of decent deals.

For sure, the RC line is a huge jump from the CF. This deal gets you a full HTIB for a solid price though. The other deal lacked a receiver and subwoofer, although arguably the subwoofer is the weakest part of this deal.
I personally got in on the other deal, as I already have a receiver and need much more subwoofer than this deal offers. For me though, the RC speaker set should be the last upgrade I need to make for my home theater, whereas this deal probably would have left me wanting more eventually.

Yes speaker quality makes thee biggest difference when it comes to sound quality ime.
The majority of your budget should go there imo.

Paying for 9 channels when you only need 5 is a waste of money imo.
That receiver is 5 years old & counting also!

A slightly older used receiver will work just fine & cost much less.
You can get the popular RSL10e for $339.
Almost the same cost & get a much better setup imo.

Get a used Denon and use A1EVO Express and you have Dirac Live performance!

Its a waste of money unless you plan on upgrading in the future. Show me a comparable receiver still in excellent shape for less. I don't want something that's 7+ years old and I'm limited to what's in my area.

I've looked at new receivers and they have gone from $500-600 to $850+ in the past few years. I don't exactly want to wait for weeks to months for a deal to pop up.

I'll spend the extra $200 for something that's still newer than some of the crap I saw listed for $300. Im not going to spend ~$950 for something like a new denon x1800h.

Edit: You also cant get the 10e when its sold out unless you wait who knows how long for it to come back in stock. Its been sold out for at least a month.

AVR prices right now are indeed nuts, 100% agree. The problem with this $1100 bundle though is that you're stuck with not only a weak sub but more problematic: the CC-10 center. Whereas that $800 Energy bundle that provides the same towers for FL/FR and the same bookshelves for SL/SR but no sub, provides the markedly superior RC-LCR 3-way center instead. And if movies/TV are your main use, it's the CENTER that will make or break your system because it alone carries 60-80% of the output in addition to 99% of the dialogue---those big hulking towers are useless unless you also do a lot of 2.0 music listening.

IOW, you did very well with the $800 bundle plus your $550 Marantz.

PS. Moot point since you're now squared away with the subwoofer situation, but just wanted to note that the 10e is currently in stock at the RSL site.
