These are great prices, esp the non-washable prices! Gone are the days of 25 cent crayons and 50 cent markers. As an early grade teacher, I can confidently say that Crayola brand is 100% worth it for crayons and markers. I usually buy extras to have on hand and will swap with a student if they are getting frustrated by their off-brand crayons breaking or not giving good color payoff. It isn't worth the tears to save a few cents on crayons. Wink BTW, same goes for Elmer's brand glue STICKS - regular glues doesn't matter - and Fiscars scissors for littles in K/1.

We've been asked to get the washable kind for kinder. Those seem to be same price. Haven't dropped yet.

The washable crayons?! Or the markers? I honestly don't use markers in my room hardly ever. Its an extra management issue with the caps then they bleed through paper. Not worth the hassle in K. Plus I like that crayons require more fine motor control - appropriate pressure, smaller barrel, etc. Sorry they're asking for the washable. Those rarely go on sale.

For markers : washable. Crayons and color pencils : "twistable". I was appalled to see the price difference. $0.50 regular crayons while $5.50 for twistable crayons. Pencils were $5 at dollar store. More at Walmart and Target. They didn't say required. Just suggested but I know how it feels to be the only kid in class who has something different and now I can afford it so I got what was suggested.

Wow. That is an insane list. I'd rather my kids have 2-3 boxes of regular 50 cent crayons than a box of "twistable". Several years ago, my district switched to a universal supply list to prevent the lists that were getting out of hand at some more affluent schools - for exactly this reason. Good luck with your back to school shopping and hugs on sending your baby to K! It's a big step for both of you!
