Don't know why stand is cheaper than vesa version without a stand...

Also, if you have Costco membership, buy from Costco so you can return it any time (monitors are not limited to 90 day returns like other electronics).

It's not a bad display or even the worst value for an integrated package like this, but compared to an iMac and other external displays it falls flat.

The idea of combining this with a M2 Mac Mini would be a wonderful setup. Still, a 27" iMac will probably be ~ $2,499.

Whereas I picked up a 48" OLED and am loving every minute πŸ˜„
This seems like one way to go, besides burn-in concerns which have mostly been alleviated and a proper monitor displaying a higher resolution in a smaller size leading to a much greater PPI.

Discounted but not a deal at all. Unless you absolutely have to have the Apple aesthetic, most people would be much better off buying one of those LG Ultrafine monitors with the Ergo stand.

I used one of these for a bit with my M1 Pro Macbook and the display is fine, but there's nothing special besides higher resolution. I preferred my LG monitor and returned this one. The integrated camera is atrocious for the ridiculous price. Also, you gotta pay extra for the "nano-texture" glass, which is basically just a matte finish. Also gotta pay extra for the height adjustable feature. πŸ™„πŸ™„πŸ™„

I generally like Apple products but this is pushing it.
Apple monitors are just consumer grade monitors disguised as pro grade monitors. [youtube.com] LG monitors are even more so, although they are cheaper.

Get an Eizo ColorEdge monitor or a Sony Broadcast Monitor such as this one recommended by HDTVTest [youtube.com] if you want real professional grade equipment.

Serious question: am I the only one who gets a headache with any > 24" display?
I had to go through 4 different 27" monitors before I settled on a 2k Asus 27". The 4k derivative gave me terrible headaches though. Most 4k or higher monitors do.

This reminds me of the Pro Display XDR.

$4,999 sounds ridiculous, but for real pro applications and reference monitors it's comparing to $20,000+ options. Even the $1,000 for Nano-texture glass is comparatively a good deal in the professional/commercial segment.

Unfortunately, the Pro Display XDR is still not comparable to real reference grade monitors.
