Those who dismiss this have never used a 5K. 5K doesn't sound like a lot but 4K is 8.4 million pixels, 5K is close to 15 million pixels. That 1K difference is staggering. 219 PPI on a 27" inch. Once you experience it, there is no going back. Not even a $800 42" OLED LG C2 would convert me over. That PPI makes a real difference for my use case ---- a developer working on code all day. The text is razor sharp. It is like looking at an iPad. You can code all day, 10 hours a day with no eye strain. That to me, makes the 5K resolution premium worth it.

this monitor has been rated 9.7 on factory color calibration on RTINGS. couldn't find anything near that under 1500.
you would maintain your own calibration process.

Price is a bit difficult, but it's kind of in a class of its own so it's hard to say it's overpriced or underpriced.
