Well joke's on you because you were indeed fooled since you didn't check both the models and follow the thread you've linked. That was a spec/price mistake and people reported receiving 8GB RAM instead of 16GB because of title and spec discrepancy.
This here is the different model with 16GB RAM with a different retail price as the model you've linked.

Unless I'm missing something, if you spec this same hardware on dells website, it's $999 and its out of stock. So it doesn't seem like a bad deal.

I bought this for $799 back in September at Best Buy and ended up returning it. That's why I thought this was just regular price, but I guess it went up.
