The main concern might be brightness, 700 lumens will likely work in a dark room. It is not a laser projector so blacks may be a minor concern.

It's 700 lumens, but yes, not ideal for a lit room. anything above 500 ANSI lumens and staying under 100in projection, a dim room it will be fine. Assuming on a decent screen, it's a nice budget name brand projector for family entertainment; not to invite a dozen+ ppl for home theater.
