Are these $5 Amazon CDs like the remastered Metallica ones where the liner notes and artwork aren't in a proper jewel case, and instead everything's in a crappy cardboard digipak?

Probably depends on the album, but I would assume it would state "digipack" or something similar. The album I received today was a standard jewel case, and I have 3 more albums arriving tomorrow, so I can check those.

So far, all the $5 albums I've ordered have all arived in standard jewel cases. Maxwell, Panic at the Disco, and Chevelle. And I didn't see the Metallica pages listing there albums in any specific packaging either, but guess they are going the cheap route. Probably why those albums are $5 more often than when they aren't.
