I went yesterday, got two vaccines. At first when they handed me the receipt. only one $15 catalina to activate was attached. Pointed it out to pharmacist, she said when they ring both out on one transaction, only one will spit out. So they had to re scan them as 2 unique vaccines and they gave me the 2nd one too. So YOU CAN get multiples on one trip. Just be sure they hand you 2 or 3 if you get 2 or 3 shots in one visit.
Here's what I did to really 'play' the rewards game well and spend $5+
BE SURE TO HAND THE CATALINA TO THE CASHIER to be scanned before you ring up merchandise. Can do so the same visit you get your shot. Can only redeem ONE at a time. Can't scan 2 or 3 in one transaction.
I clipped the dig coupon for $4/2 Colgate Total TP's. they are on sale 2/$10
Paid $6/2 after digital, paid with Discover for 5% quarterly cb (no tax on TP in my state)
.30 back on Discover 5% back at Drug stores to 9/30 quarterly.
I also received a $5 Register reward good for 2 weeks and $15.xx in rewards.
Net outlay after .30 back on Discover 70c. got $19+ spending value banked.
Will do the same on my 2nd $15 voucher on another instore RR deal like this (not colgate since the coupon was redeemed already)
I didn't receive anything after my shot, so I had to ask the pharmacist where my coupon was. He said the system wasn't printing it out for some reason, so he would manually add $15 in rewards to my account instead, but that took 10 minutes of him fiddling with the computer. But at least I get to skip the $5 buy requirement. I guess the lesson here is to make sure you have the coupon before you leave.
I tried to do the two-shot thing in one visit for two coupons, but Walgreens requires you to say you have a special health risk if you're under 65 for Covid. Apparently some new federal FDA requirement. So I ended up just getting a flu shot.
I normally get my shots at CVS, but they refused to give me a vaccine coupon earlier this year even though I should have received one (so CVS has its problems too), and then I saw you post this (better) deal last month. Other than that, their system is more foolproof: the person who gave you the shot just hands you a paper coupon ($5 off 20). I've gotten two coupons for two shots in one visit in the past too. I'll probably get my Covid shot there later since they don't seem to require the special health exception to schedule it online that Walgreens does (at least in my state).
Never leave w/o the coupons. as I noted in my situation, simply reminded the pharmacist I was supposed to get 2 (for ONE PERSON), she agreed, explained why only 1 spit out and they generated another one. You are indeed supposed to get ONE for EACH vaxx up to a max of 3 per account.
A husband and wife ideally should set up their own Wags rewards accounts to get a max of 6 (3 on each account)

Drug stores simply dispense and adminster the vaccines, they don't make policy as far as risk factors who's covered, etc.
the exception issue isn't a drug store decision. that's between the government and/or your insurance company. Going to CVS you will likely have the same issue. If the insurance system rejects paying for your vaccine, you will either have to pay OOP for it or have to get an RX from your doctor to get one.

As I understand it, state governments ultimately have control over insurance coverage for vaccines. For people under 65, some states require a Rx. Other states only require "self-attestation", without any documentation or proof, that you have a high risk factor. That's what the Walgreens check box is for. And some of these factors seem kind of fuzzy, especially the lifestyle ones like "physical inactivity", so I imagine some people are checking the box regardless. And finally some states (like NJ or MA) don't require anything at all, and everyone under 65 is still covered like before. I am thinking that since CVS knows which state you're getting the shot in, it can tell whether it needs to make you check the box or not, while the Walgreen's website is just being lazy and giving everyone the same treatment.
