The current exponential and highly speculative growth is unsustainable and will greatly slow (not necessarily recede) when infrastructure levels out with demand, and the market aligns with actual consumption. That's how it works. No one is suggesting we're going to suddenly start using the abacus again, we'd go back to the "way they were before it" or "need less comput(ing) in the future." You are arguing with yourself.

So yes, the ever growing bubble will burst. Just like the dot.com boom. The internet didn't go away but those 1000 new start ups an hour certainly did stop appearing...didn't they?
