Great price for reputable pla+. I typically try to stick to Sunlu PLA+ 2.0 and 3DHojor but elegoo is good filament as well.

I'm new to 3d printing. What are your thoughts on this pla+ vs rapid pla+? Any reason to skip this in favor of rapid?

From my small experience in testing rapid pla, unless you spend time testing to get optimal speed/quality settings, its not really worth it if you are paying a higher price.

For petg though I do use rapid since I have managed to get a faster print time for the items I sell. Ive cut print time by about 20% without affecting quality.

I will say thought for white pla I ONLY buy Sunlu pla+ 2.0. It isnthe brightest white and probably the best at reducing color bleed.

I have a ton of elegoo filament (plus other brands like sunlu, polymaker etc). Among Elegoo's standard PLA (plus, basic, rapid and pro), the plus is my preference and almost would always buy it over the others with everything else being equal. In fact, it's probably my favorite non specialty pla among any brands I've tried (and I've tried a lot). All though their rapid pla+ is very close.

Is print quality the difference that makes you favor elegoo's pla+ over the rapid pla+ or is it rate of failure thing, etc?

Both are great and if I've ever had a print failure with either, it was a user error. The Plus (non rapid) is slightly stronger, but if Rapid PLA+ is slightly cheaper, I would probably order that as the difference is negligible. The Pro prints much different than either of those... dimensional accuracy is not as good and some of the colors have a bit of a PETGish feel. I do love the Pro's burgundy and light blue colors though and when buying the Pro, those are the colors I usually buy it for.
