FYI, this model comes with a rechargeable battery pack that you can charge via USB-C directly through the controller. If for some reason you aren't a fan, you can also pop in your own AA batteries.

Solid price for a solid controller. Personally, I'm still waiting for a deal on the Pro 3 again.

Dpad is better on this one. Pro 3 Dpad was absolute hell on retro games. Not usable with Street Fighter 2 or any SNK fighter.

The Pro 3 feels great to me, but admittedly I don't play any 2D fighters. It was perfect for Prince of Persia Lost Crown and it works well with platforming games too (been playing IGTAP lately).

I have an ALPS Pro controller, but I'm guessing that's the same dpad as this?

Yeh, The PRO 3 is fine for anything else! I just bought it at the time for SNES games on my MiSTER FPGA and Neo Geo and Capcom fighting games were absolutely hell with that dpad. Just a different tech, not a fan of the clicky, the rubber membrane is so much better for retro. Yeh guessing that is the case for the alps.
