I recently moved and I decided to not go with Ring at the new house. The fact you can't playback for free was the deal killer for me. With Tapo or Blink you can record to local SD Card and playback on your mobile. On Ring being cloud only and requiring subscription is what finally killed it for me.

I agree. Part of it depends on how much of the ecosystem you've invested into it. I have the ring alarm and now the prices are increasing.

I have Ring for the alarm component, and Reolink NVR for the 24/7 recording
