I never got to play this one. I only played part one, but the ending was disappointing. The writers seemed to want to take this story to a dark place, so I lost all interest.

wouldnt be surprised if they do yet another remake next gen so you'll likely have another chance to play it then

It's a pretty decent game with great cinematics but overall I think its very overrated. It's very linear and has a very limited gameplay.

If you like cinematics and constant cut scenes and zombie storylines this is a great game, otherwise its just ok.

I thought the stealth gameplay was stellar. Played it through grounded mode. The No Return mode offers plenty of replay ability. It's a rogue like mode where you're placed into various scenarios and have to decide where to spend limited resources to survive.

Today they announced they're working on two new projects for The Last of Us but their next game is Intergalactic and will show a gameplay trailer next year.

You made the right call. The second game is basically just misery porn. I don't even care about the death that everyone got so worked up over in the beginning of the game; the entire experience was just one f'ing downer after another. "But... it's about cyclical violence!" You can make that point without stripping all hope and levity from the experience. If they made another, I don't know if I would bother playing it because finishing the 2nd game took a toll on my psyche. It retroactively ruined the first game for me, which I used to replay once every year or two. Haven't touched it since.

Edit: you're welcome to your own opinion, as I am mine.

I've enjoyed the first one. Spent a couple of dollars more and bought the physical disk version.

Oh wow. Thanks so much for that information. I had no idea the game's story got so dark and moody after the first one. Personally, the first game was at its peak when playing as Joel, so after I found out they killed him off, I thought to myself, "What's the point of even going back to this franchise if they took the most fun part of the game out of it?". That's the risk writers take when killing off the main characters. And if they just added a never-ending cycle of violence, as you mentioned, that would make the story even worse for me.
