The QM9K is unavailable in my area, so my question is somewhat moot (for now), but the QM8K is on sale for a pretty good price ($899 for the 65", which fits my needs). From what I've read/heard, the two sets are very comparable, so maybe the (slightly older) QM8K is a decent option? Thoughts? TIA

Nah man if you want a 75 get a 75. Getting a smaller TV will usually lead to disappointment.

I hear you. The price-difference isn't the issue, it's the size of the room it's going into. Even the 65 might be a tad big for it.
I meant to ask about the difference between getting the (on-sale and available, though slightly older) QM8K, versus the (on-sale but UNavailable, newer) QM9K.
