Not useless for it's size because you can install one to replace any light fixture without installing the necessary hardware and bracing for a large, efficient (which is the benefit of the larger size) fan. However, they are cheap and the one I bought last time they were on sale began to rattle after three months of daily use. If I reverse it, it ceases to rattle for a day or so. I have another that I rarely use the fan, it is fine, certainly worth $40 to replace an oscillating fan and/or an old light fixture.
Bought and returned because it's smaller than it looks and the opaque lucite fan blade in the middle makes it look like a child's toy. The amount of air circulation was minimal. Would probably be good in a small apartment, but it will look out of place in a home of pretty much any size at all. I replaced it with one I purchased from Costco for $99.00 (it was on sale at the time). Same concept and probably just about twice the size.
Yes, it's only 19.7 inches wide, so it can easily be installed wherever you have an existing ceiling light. It doesn't require a fan rated electrical box to install it. It's light & easy to install, but it's not a high CFM airflow type of fan like a 54" fan. Of course, smaller fan size mean less airflow. So choose the fan size you want based on your needs.

Our current ceiling light setup does not have the anchoring pts for a full on ceiling fan. How does one know this can work without the fan rated electrical box? I see nothing stated in the description...is it just weight? (it claims to be 6.49 lbs). Thx!

Did CS help at all? Sometimes these white label brands are very keen on sending replacements so you don't leave bad feedback.
Also, may I ask how you can tell that this item does not requiring a fan-rated electrical box? Our setup is currently not rated for a full-on ceiling on so we would be interested in this for that reason. Thx.
