I think it depends. The ryobi gas one I have quite powerful, unfortunately it's made by ryobi so it's always giving me headaches, this year the housing broke, last year carb issues, year before that the hoses cracked. When it works it's great though. The more expensive echo I bought, I knew it would be slightly less powerful but it's seriously pathetic, and they made the hose smaller in diameter.

I have the earlier 145 BT series and it was the entry level to the landscaping or pro series. It's probably twenty years old with a Kawasaki engine, basically bullet proof. For a smaller yard it gets the job done. This one at least on paper has a slightly bigger engine so I'm guessing a little more powerful. YMMV but other than air filter and plugs. Starts all the time.

Backpack blowers are a game changer. I have a Stihl BR 600 that's been running strong for 5+ years. I use it for grass clippings, leaves, and even blowing light to medium snow in the winter.
