SKIL sadly went the way of many other toolmakers when they shifted manufacturing of this formerly awesome saw to China. Save money (and frustration)...pickup a used "made in USA" 77 on ebay.

If youre doing some smaller concrete work - yes. Careful of rebar... Or, think about large concrete saw or rent one. Have used both and a large concrete saw makes life easier and much faster. And typically they have a vacuum attachment port.

Yes, but at $118 this is not much more than a very good quality sidewinder and is better in just about every way: easier to guide, straighter cuts, safer hand position, better torque for hardwoods, etc.

I have the magnesium version and it's my primary saw for everything. I have a sidewinder mounted on a Kreg jig for ripping down panels that are too big or flimsy for my jobsite tablesaw, but I can get an equally straight cut with my worm drive doing freehand as long as I can reach it.

At this price, I would 100% recommend this saw over a standard sidewinder if you don't already have a power saw; provided you are primarily cutting on a bench/ground as it does get pretty heavy for repeated vertical and overhead cuts.

If you're cutting anything more than grooves in existing concrete, either rent a dedicated concrete saw for the day or buy one specifically for the task if you're going to do it frequently. SKIL has a 10-1/2" version of this saw for concrete but it's pricey.

I'd spring for the SKILSAW SPT79-00 for the integrated water feed & dust vacuum port alone. It's a much better option if you're going to be cutting concrete:
