We go through a lot of portable batteries, most aren't drop proof either. I like the fact i can charge my laptop and phone with one these and I can have my fleet of batteries usable in case of an emergency.

For versatility it's nice but a power bank has more usable power for less money vs a Dewalt battery in same use scenarios.

Example: A Dewalt 10Ah battery ($250+) 15Ah battery ($400+) both have 10000-15000mAh of usable energy.

Power bank with 20000mAh = 20Ah in raw usable battery power that sells for $50-100.

Use cases vary by each individual but if you're looking to use your batteries as pure power banks, in my opinion, you have better options. This is still useful but I wouldn't use it solely for that purpose.

I think it is more aimed at people who already have quite a few dewalt batteries and may need to use them in a pinch (like a power outage, or dead phone on a job site without power). With the added benefit of being able to recharge your batteries! I personally have the DCB090 (much cheaper but no charger and less watt output) which has come in hand more times than I can count!

Have had this for a few years now. The included wall charger is barebones compared to modern wall chargers, very bulky and empty feeling. It's also only 65 watts, while the adapter itself can do 100 watts in and out. Not as fast as the fan cooled dedicated chargers that can do 160, but still plenty fast.

The battery adapter unfortunately can drain batteries below where it can recharge them, even if you're not actively using it. Just leaving it connected slowly drains the battery after like, a week or two depending on the capacity. If the charge level lights don't come on when you press the button, you'll need to use a different charger to revive it. Take the adapter off when you're not using it to keep this from happening.

As for the upsides, it's the best official method I've found for recharging Dewalt batteries with DC power, like a car charger or solar panel. Much more efficient and less complicated than getting an inverter and a power strip if you use your tools on the go often.
