Price is always around this. Also note, from segways website they responded to a user in May 2026 "At this time, additional batteries for this model have been discontinued, and we understand how this may be disappointing. "

With the batteries being discontinued, why wouldny you go pecron or the C2000 gen 2 over this ?

Simply put, the price......I've been critical of this for the discontinued batteries however it's $500 for 2048wh, the pecron is $649 and the c2000x gen 2 is $950 but sometimes you can get it on sale in the $800+ range. You can get 2 of these for basically the price of the anker right now.

Best price I've gotten on the c2000x and an expansion was $800 for the unit and $500 for the expansion. You'd save $300 for going with 2 of these.With all that said form factor of the c2000x can't be beat, it's the gold standard right now for size

Also if im not mistaken the middle part of this unit is th "expansion battery" if you needed it all in one

That's the same reasoning I'm having. And if you're like me, after buying your third or fourth one for around $500 each, the concern about scarcity or the batteries being discontinued pretty much disappears.

I read some reviews saying there's an issue of needing to use the app to initially set it up. Any truth to this or can it be used out of the box?

You need to use the app to activate the battery

I have this without the "middle expansion battery" and I wouldn't get this.
Nothing wrong with the unit I have but it's been about 2-3 yrs and I know Segway isn't making any new power station.

Not true. It can be used without any app, just read the instructions to learn how to manually navigate the menu on its screen. I can't be happier with these every time the $500 deal comes up.
