Is there any new family friendly content on Nexflix these days? I don't mean cartoons, but PG and PG-13 movies or shows for teens.
I've sort of gotten out of the loop for Netflix because of their pricing and went back to OTA and whatever Paramount+ and Amazon Prime release because they are bundled with the Walmart+ and Amazon Prime shipping plans.

Is your family into documentaries about murders? If so, yes, there is an endless amount of content

Building a plex or jellyfin server in a NAS costs $300 these days (one time cost). Once you build that, running cost is $5/mo for VPN subscription. No more paying for netflix, hulu, hbo, disney, etc after that. NAS also allows you to backup your data, photos, videos on-prem since you own the infra. Which means no more paying for Google drive or iCloud or what have you.
Once you have vpn subscription, point your TV to Albania, and now you wont even get ads on YouTube. That's basically like having YouTube premium for free.
Just saying. Not endorsing. Simply putting it out there. ifkyk
$27/mo Netflix = $324/yr
$12/mo YouTube = $144/yr
$10/mo iCloud = $120/yr
Hulu = $15/mo? Disney = $20/mo?
NAS = $300 one time + $5/mo VPN
You decide which one is slick

It's relatively simple to follow a guide to setup, however there's quite a bit more to it than that. Plus, the $300 prob just covers the disks as it wouldn't cover replacing one of mine....
Still gotta add in the other parts and memberships, plus your time. (Started running my first NAS ~2001). Is it cheaper than all the subs, absolutely, is it worth your time, maybe.

You can use Tailscale too and eliminate the VPN charge 💁 ♂️

Netflix, Hulu have shows and movies. How do you get them on your NAS? It's storage so you'd have to download them from somewhere and store them on your NAS right?
