Right... These are backwards compatible with regular microsd ports, you can use them in most devices that support microsd xc I believe. You just can't use regular microsd xc in a device which has a microsd express port, switch 2 is the only real device that even supports it because Google, Apple, Samsung and everybody else are getting richer off dropping microsd card support and just renting storage to people, which is unfortunate.

I don't believe so. AI is just buying all the components and companies can make 10x more selling to them compared to selling to consumers.

You're not wrong about the fake shortage (memory manufacturer cartel), but these are microsd Express. The cheapest I saw them was last year around Switch 2 launch where Walmart had their onn brand ones for $60 for the 512gb (and they were the only ones this low, name brand Express 512gb have been very pricey, made worse by the memory shortage)

Scarcity real or false causes stupidity which feeds the cycle. Instead of avoiding high prices a subset of the population tends to get hordy which reinforces the demand temporarily. Think about toilet paper 🤣.

When mega companies with deep pockets are part of that consumer base, it can be magnified.
