1. Dawn Ultra (Best Overall): The gold standard for daily dishwashing, offering high concentration and powerful surfactants that cut grease efficiently without a premium price tag. Best performance per dollar overall because it is almost as good as Dawn Platinum but costs quite a bit less.
2. Dawn Platinum / Platinum Plus PowerSuds (Best for Heavy Grease): Features extra-strong degreasers designed for baked-on oven and stovetop messes. It works slightly better than Dawn Ultra but is usually significantly more expensive per ounce.
3. Dawn (regular version) works OK and is the 2nd least expensive per ounce. Better than Palmolive.
4. Dawn Free & Clear (Best for Sensitive Skin): Leaves out heavy dyes and synthetic fragrances. While great for avoiding skin irritation, it lacks the punchy cleaning or sudsing abilities of options # 1, 2, or 3.
5. Dawn Professional / Heavy Duty (Worst for Everyday Use): This says it is "formulated for commercial kitchens and heavy equipment" but it is the most wattery and weak of all the types, losing it's suds and grease disolving ability extremely quickly and requires a lot more of it to clean the same dirty pan, similar to the regular version of Palmolive which I think is the worst performing of all big brand dish soaps. That's why a gallon of this crap "professional" version of Dawn only costs $16 at Sams Club.

Also though, most people waste a ton of soap down the drain when washing dishes at home. I you want to stretch it out a foaming dispenser is a good idea. Or making a small batch of soap water in a bowl (where the pro grade soap would work just as well)

I admit to keep Dawn around as a spot-treat for clothes, though. It does a great job of that, better than Ajax for sure.
It's the same with dishwasher detergent. Literally nothing is as effective as Walmart's brand of powder. Pods and liquid are just throwing money away. Buying Dawn (for me) would be just as wasteful.
