What is red light therapy actually useful for? Grok says it appears to be effective for skin, hair and shortsightedness. Can anyone please give us some real hands on feedback?

There are many blog posts and podcasts sharing first hand experience. Just search the internet!

My conclusion from those sources: it's not nothing but it's not much either. It requires red light to be shown intensely and evenly, and that is kind of annoying as a regular routine.

It does help with akin smoothness, brightness and firmness. It also helps with hair quality and some possible hair growth. But, you need to know the power density (mw/cm2) to calculate roughly how long each session and at what distance. The cheap ones do not include the irradiance rate (power density) so assum8ng they are too week to deliver therapeutic intensity. This one has listed their irradiance rate which is a plus, but it remains to be seen if tga5s how much in reality is.

Generally, you may need 20 to 50 mw/cm2 at a distance of 6 to 18 inches for 8 to 15 minutes for general skin benefits. For deep tissue and joints, you need higher power. Remember, distance greatly reduces the power. This one at (actual) 130 mw/cm2 at about no farther than 18 inches or so or less is good strength for certain duration. The farther the distance, the less the strength goes down and significantly.

Edit: 7 lights one are better with different wavelength and penetration give more wholesome results for skin. You can ask AI to list what each light does. I would prefer the 7 lights in 1 units but likely they are a lot more expensive.

Doesn't this need to be on your skin basically, not as effective if you're just staring at a wall of light

My wife and I use one for joint and muscle pain. The device is place directly on the skin (0 distance) on the affect area. It helps but takes time. I'm not sure if the warmth and/or the IR provide the relief as it does get very warm after about 10 minutes of use. We use it for 30 minutes each session.

This for skin is fine. For muscle, I would get something that is place directly onto the skin.
