Does the 1 Gig deal have data cap? In the past, Xfinity has caps on data in many states. I've been burnt several times with their limit, which sits in the fine print. With online streaming being a utility now, I had promised to never touch xfinity ever again ... not to mention their horroble customer service and billing/accounting errors/nightmares.

Edit: Says $45/mo for students on your link but once you enter the address, but reverts to normal $50/mo after $10/month autopay & paperless bill discount with bank account. (In spite of verying and acknowledging student ID and calling it a student deal!). Usual Xfinity shenanigans.

FYI:
After one year mobile promo, regular rates currently ($40/mo) apply. One-time $25/line mobile activation fee applies. Taxes and fees extra. Peacock Premium included for 2 years.

Pricing & Other Info

Restrictions apply. Price for Xfinity Internet for 60 months. Mobile $0/mo for 12 months, then regular rates apply. One-time $25/line mobile activation fee applies. Restrictions apply. Offer for Peacock Premium (currently $12.99/mo. value) limited to Xfinity Internet customers with new or upgraded gig-speed or faster service; requires activation of Peacock within first 90 days. Management of existing subscriptions may be required to avoid multiple subscriptions and duplicate charges; third-party billed subscriptions continue until canceled.

No cap if you use their gateway that's included. I know bc I use a lot of data as I WFH and I stream YouTubeTV which kills a lot of data

New Plans: All current Xfinity Internet plans (300 Mbps and above) include unlimited data with no data caps, gateway not necessary,
Legacy Plans: If you are on an older or legacy Xfinity plan, your account may still be subject to a 1.2 TB (Terabyte) monthly data cap.

This is a huge middle finger to their existing customer base, made possible by the fact that they have a complete monopoly in many areas they're in.

They've been hemorrhaging customers to fiber ISPs because of their greedy tactics & pricing. Guaranteed that's the reason why they've had their recent gigabit @ $50/mo promos; they're trying to win customers back after decades of abuse.

Things worked out pretty well for me timing wise & I got on their unlimited gigabit @ a flat rate of $50/mo, no contract, no added fees, price guaranteed for 5 years. It's been pretty solid, thankfully... but I wouldn't be anywhere near as happy of a customer if they were squeezing me for $120/mo 500mbit with a monthly bandwidth cap like many folks deal with.

They think they're sneaky, bunch of clowns! 🤡 " Xfinity Internet is powered by fiber and connected to premises by coaxial cable". This is like sipping water through a needle from a gallon container. LMAO! Coax is a one lane highway, fiber is the autobahn. They can word it however they like but if it's not fiber all the way to your modem, it's NOT fiber speed!
