Had this guitar for years best guitar for the money hands down. Yamaha acoustics are very under rated especially for their price

I have not played the fgx830c but there are slight differences in wood which can have effect on sound which will largely be up to preferences which one you consider better. The main difference and what makes the FSC-TA and all of Yamaha's transacoustic line truly unique is the effects are built into the guitar so without even being plugged in you can add chorus and reverb for the first generation and the later models added delay and looper
