Wish TNG made more money on their remaster to allow for DS9s.

For those unaware, they had to meticulously recreate all of the visual effects for TNG's remaster because they were shot in video, while the rest of the show was shot on film. Not even sure if TNG broke even at this point.

Not a bad show for the first few seasons but ruined once they got obsessed with religion and adding a tiny 10 man ship that was more powerful than the Enterprise because they ran out of story ideas being stuck on a space station. Seems like once Gene passed, everything slowly just went to crap in the Star Trek Universe.

With AI they could do it now on the cheap. Let's hope they get around to remastering DS9 then erasing everything that came after LOL

That's the blessing and curse of TNG vs DS9 restoration: TNG still had the footage archived on film, so the bulk of the series was able to just be rescanned and touched up via normal processes. DS9 was all converted to video for editing, in this case digital copies of a 480i analog NTSC stream, and the original film stock was destroyed isn't economical to scan when all every single VFX shot would need to be redone. There's a few fan projects to do AI upscaling (e.g. https://ds9redefined.wordpress.com/progress/ ) but even with some seasons available on Laserdisc it's arduous, imperfect, and will unfortunately never look nearly as good as those 35mm film transfers for TNG.

This was literally $15 on VUDU the other day. Now $35 is a hot deal?

Vudu is not AppleTV - if you want all your stuff on one service, you have to judge them separately but I agree that $15 is better than $35

Yeah. I've got a few things over on Fandango but don't trust them as much to keep purchases intact over the long term.

The film was not destroyed. Please don't spread false rumors without researching them

Corrected, while I knew it wasn't the "all shot straight to video" rumor that's persisted (I backed the delightful What We Left Behind documentary and have the disc on my shelf), I mistakenly thought those were some of the archives damaged in the fire that wiped out a ton of film stocks a few years back.

Yeah it had everything. If only the federation made tons of those little ships no one would defeat them lol. They mad the ship small so the Deep Space Nine crew could man it but then they had to make it also the most powerful ship in the federation and yet they only had the one. Silly stupid stuff like this ruined the last few seasons - well that and all the mystic BS.

Guys, do yourself a favor and buy this on DVD or download it. This is essentially long-term rental and they can pull it or change it at any point. I know it's convenient to have them store it, but they retain ownership of if and you could get scrood.
