Pulled the trigger once it went on sale...no regrets...no more yearly solar replacement. Very durable, had them for 2 years, still looks the same.

No, buried the wires 6in deep when running across my lawn. And the lights were placed either in the middle of my landscape or at the edge of my landscape edger. So never had any lawn tools near them

Definitely a step up from solar. You can find decent deals in the winter for landscape lighting, just consider cost per fixture + wire cost + transformers. A big transformer is $50-90, wiring can be $30-100 depending on length ($30 for 250 on a recent Slickdeals). So this comes out at $40 a fixture or so, which is average. Biggest thing on this is you can return to Costco, but I wouldn't want to rip it all out to return.
