C6H has an upgraded panel with increased brightness similarly to the G5. Is it worth $500, varies by budget

That adds nothing to this post. Every mass produced product in existence has malfunctioning units. You just happened to get a bad one. It says nothing about the actual quality of this TV when it's a properly functioning unit. The C5 is one of the best TVs out there.

just got one at Sam's for $999. was 1 left when I left. Wasn't planning on buying a tv this morning, but buy first ask questions later. I assume big YMMV.

Mediocre price for a C5, especially now that the C6H exists. It's been this price so many times, and the C6H is a better TV.
