Two kind of negatives are, 1. The suspension is mainly for looks. It probably helps a little but it's pretty much cosmetic at this point. 2. The solid tires allow you to feel every bump and vibration. It took a few trips to get use to it. In the beginning, my arms took in all of it and your hands start to hurt a little. My old scooter had pneumatic tires without a suspension and it was a night and day difference. If I bought another scooter, I'd would not get one with a solid tire. Plus side is the tire would not pop or leak air, lol.
With that said, it's still a pretty good buy for the price. It's only been about a year and I use it mainly on the weekends getting in about 15 miles, and it's held up. As noted earlier, the vibration also caused some of the screws to loosen, but I just tightened them back up last week so it's not like it happens often. A little locktite should fix that.
Personally, for my two girls, I bought a used Segway Ninebot (maxes out at 12mph) and a similar one to this one AP07, for my teenager, which maxes out at about 19mph. Plenty for around the neighborhood or to the park.
LOL. So true. I feel pretty silly riding one of these myself. I'd rather hop on my MTB. But if you're in that weight range, they have the 500W models from this brand for a bit more, that should be able to give you a bit more power/speed.
