This is 8Cr13MoV - Chinese blade steel, which is okay for the "daily beater." $20 is a fair price, imho.

The blade length is 3.1" which could be an issue in states and municipalities with the strict blade limits (2.5" and 3").

My favorite Kershaw of all time. I grab a couple every time it hits this price. Then I give them out as gifts.

The steel is great for an eddc and more importantly sharpens easily.

Anybody who has had to sharpen sv30 and some of these other popular steels, will be able to tell you that it is a PITA to sharpen in comparison.

I get these from a local store Lazer etched for 25. Nice little knife.

$20 is not a bad deal at all.

One of the only kershaw assisted opening knives that I haven't thrown out. The heat treat is ok for this one.

Bought this for $15.05 in 2015. That would be $21.13 with inflation, so this it a pretty good deal.

I bought one of these years ago and I never quite understood the stellar reviews. It's a decent knife but there are many Kershaws in the same price and material range that are better. The scales on the oso feel really plasticky and cheap. The material works on some knives but not on this one imho.

One of my favorites! I wish Kershaw would make the blaze orange version again.

Can second that the scales on this feel cheap, but has good grip to it. This is still my favorite daily beater and box opener knife.

Great knife, I've owned two over the years for work in a grocery store and gave both away to kids who needed a decent knife. 8cr13MoV is a good budget stainless steel that is easy to sharpen and will serve well the average knife user's needs if taken care off. Remember, any knife steel will rust if you abuse it, so keep it clean, dry and oil it occasionally. Flipper tab opens the blade almost without fail due to the speedsafe assisted opening Kershaw uses. No thumb studs to scratch when in pocket, lightweight and easy to carry. Clip comes attached for tip down carry, but you will want to change it to tip up carry if you are right handed, so the closed blade is against the outside hem of your pocket during carry. The liner locks on the two examples I owned locked up the blade nicely with no play or wiggle. 3.1" blade is a great size for a knife large enough to do knife chores (remember it's not a screwdriver or pry bar) while being legal most places. Do check the knife laws in your state [akti.org] to be safe.

This isn't the knife that will impress your knife nerd friends if they are all carrying $300 Spydercos or Benchmades. It's just a good knife that will get the job done for $20. If you are willing to spend $30, consider looking at the Civivi Mini Praxis in Black or Olive [amazon.com]. Or, if you only want to spend $10, consider this Walmart Ozark Trail knife in D2 semi-stainless tool steel. [walmart.com] I own both and they are great buys in their price range. And, the WorkSharp Guided Field Sharpener ($40 on Amazon) [amazon.com]is my favorite one-piece sharpener that will keep any knife or tool wicked sharp. Here's a video on how to use it. [youtube.com]
