Is this better than a standard lodge pan?

Cast iron pan pizzas are some of the best! Unlike a regular pizza stone, this gives you a crisp pan crust and allows for almost any style. The pizza dough from Aldi works great too!

I've never seen a cast-iron skillet over 12 inches. What do I do with this monster?

This is a perfect size for a family of 4. I find the 12 inch skillet a bit smaller. I can fit/cook 4 pcs of chicken breast or thighs perfectly without cramping.

But that being said, I found this brand/pan a bit inferior to Lodge and Victoria brand when I saw it in Costco. I have Victoria and their are on par with Lodge.

I saw it in person, it's HUGE! Too big to fit on my gas cooktop

I'd much rather have a 15" cast iron skillet with the baker (loop) handle on both sides. This thing is going to be huge.

I would make oven pizzas with this, or roast large pieces of meat.
