I have 3 of these. They can be a little unpredictable depending on the connection type. I have found they are most stable on macs but with the right setup you should be fine on any platform. They run on a local media server and still working fine after two years.

These drives use Chinese made NAND. No one knows if they are reliable because they haven't been on the market long enough. I'm not saying that automatically makes this brand worse than someone like micron, but we don't have a way of knowing. They can last 10 years or they may all die next year.

On the flip side, I'm cheering them on only because they add competitive pressure into a totally corrupt, price-gouging industry (who still pretend that A.I. data centers fully explain their greed).

On the other hand, I've had a KingSpec drive fail and their customer support was/is terrible.

I'm using these as game storage not personal data drives. If it goes corrupt it's not like it's gonna matter all that much. Plus most of my save files are stored elsewhere anyway.

There is one Chinese nand manufacturer, YMTC.

Lexar, Acer, Teamgroup, Kingston source chips from them including Fanxiang and Netac.
