I don't know. I think there's some group-think and keyboard warrior snob stuff going on. I've used the X56 for the last 4 years for Elite Dangerous and it's been perfectly fine. I did mod the throttle to add a "detent" allowing it to click on zero throttle in the middle, but otherwise it's been great. For $149 it's a good deal.
