I got one of these on clearance at Walmart. 1st month free for its trial. Works very good for a battery powered camera and garage door opener. I bought it about 2 months ago and its at about time to recharge it, you can buy attachments to wire it up if you want.

I don't think I'd buy this unless I'm hardwiring it. My battery runs down so fast. I need to charge it like every 4 days.

Is the battery life on this really that bad?

Also not terribly useful if replacing a keypad on the trim that's perpendicular with the door instead of parallel and facing out.

Battery is about a few months. The crazy part of this is that you cannot open garage door via wifi unless ur opener is wifi enabled... super lame. I thought this would support wifi open function in addition to camera.

You'd need something like this constantly powered to add WiFi open/close to an older opener. I bought them a few years ago when they were dirt cheap but I see they've raised the price now. https://www.amazon.com/Smart-Gara...ref=sr_1_1

A keypad likely can't add this function because it's generally not installed as a hardwire and you'd exhaust the battery even more quickly.
