Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank

I just received these and ran one of them through a test cycle.

Good things:
  • Low internal resistance, ~60 milliohms
  • good voltages
  • Mostly pre-charged
Questionable things:
  • Only 2050mAh capacity, not 2800. 2800 is a physical impossibliity in an AA package with pre-charged (low-sef-discharge) NiMh, so this isn't surprising, but blatent marketing lies aren't great
  • Somewhat warm when charging at 0.5A. Not enough to hurt the cell

Any suggestions on a good, inexpensive charger?

The ones that come with Eneloop in packs are fine. The feature that most don't have is being able to charge one battery at a time, and I don't know of a cheap charger that does that. The one that I use is OOS, but this $23 one looks equivalent:

I got a La Crosse Technology one over 14 years ago that still works like a champ. Amazon doesn't even list them anymore. Last purchased Aug 14, 2012

thanks I'll check into that. Is Eneloop the better option in general (if you can get them at a decent price)?

Good, yes.
Inexpensive, no...

I purchased one of these in 2019 and still use it today. But I need the flexibility.

Eneloop batteries are the Bugatti of the Ni-MH battery world.

Somebody got a little autistic about Eneloops:

Any time I see capacity that is listed that is PHYSICALLY IMPOSSIBLE, I will question the quality of the cells

Got these and they're a tad bigger than other AA batteries I have and wouldn't fit in my x360 controller.
