I don't love this motherboard. But I'm not a fan of asrock. I've known way too many people who have had bad experiences plus I've had a bad experience with a 300 series board a few years ago. From bios issues to connectivity issues to general reliability. And the fact this is a B450 older generation. Edit. Just saw it has WiFi. HmmI dunno

Board does have wifi included, hence the name of it "B450m/AC."

And asrock has been very good to me. I have my old b350 board in my nephew's desktop, still going strong since gen 1 Ryzen. My wife has this exact board in her system since pre-Covid and its currently rocking a 5700x3d, zero issues.

Not gonna continue listing the people I know with asrock boards, theres a few more. AM4 Asrock boards were super solid, major issues with this brand popped up with AM5 mainly.

Haven't built a pc in a while. How old are these components? Even if slower than newer hardware is the value there?

I have a free micro atx case so all I would need is a power supply, cpu and cooler right? Believe the cpu would provide onboard video?

Grab this if you want to build a PC for about $600 or less.

CPU: Ryzen 5500 (with cooler) for around $80 on sale recently or a used 3600 for less. Could also get a 5600 from AliExpress for a bit more.
Case and power supply (650-750W) for around $50-60 each.
GPU: definitely will have to go used to hit that budget but some good options are a 1660 Super for under $100 (the bare minimum id go with but mainly for esports games). For some more demanding games a 2060 or 2070, or 6600/6600XT should all be under $200 used. If you're really lucky you might be able to still find a used 3060 around $200 on your local marketplace.

I feel like yesterday's combo with a Ryzen 5500 CPU was a better value. Better mobo + an extra AIO CPU cooler (or a different part to bundle with) for a few bucks less (with the CPU and the SSD being a comparable value).

Not crapping on the deal: it's a good value if you want to build a budget desktop. But money- and effort-wise, you may be better off just grabbing a prebuilt (new or refurb). Even Newegg's two DoorBuster prebuilts will look like a good value after you price all the components of your build in.

You'd need a G variant CPU, otherwise a discrete GPU is necessary.
