I get the tech has gotten a lot better, and that there are plenty of homeowners who do basic household stuff where the M12 system is more than enough for what they do, but something like a circ saw is really a go big or go home thing.

You can pick up the M18 version of this WITH a battery for about 50 bucks more. Or if its something you only use once or twice a year, get a solid corded one for 1/3rd of the price.

For sure, it shouldn't be your main saw. That said, if you already have a main saw, it's pretty great for sheet work I have used it for. Small, light, and portable obviously. I like to with me when I buy plywood, mdf, etc to fit cut and fit it in my car.

Hell, worth it for the two XC 5.0 HO batteries alone. Big HO batteries are not cheap.

This is not a replacement for the full size saw. That said, this is great for overhead or awkward extension use.

Depth of cut is 1 5/8", should cut 2x material just fine. It's probably not the quickest thing ever, and probably sucks batteries like crazy, but it would cover almost all homeowner projects without a problem. I could see it being plenty useful; my favorite saw size is 6.5" which some people also scoff at, but it's handy and does everything I ask of it.

Depth of cut on this saw will make it thru a 2x lumber ONLY IF you're cutting at a 90° angle. It renders the saw's bevel adustment (45° or most other adjustable angle/bevel cuts) non-feasible, as it won't make it thru 2x lumber for any angle cut.

I am actually bummed when I have to get one of my M18 circ saws, the M12 is so much lighter and easier to use.

True, shouldn't be your main saw, but works for most things, haven't had to take out the bigger saws in awhile
