These are pretty good units. Favorite part is that they take 2xAAA batteries instead of a coin cell.

these are wifi units (which suck down power) and are tied to govee's cloud (always annoying) - I've been slowly switching from govee wifi stuff to thirdreality zigbee stuff. thirdreality has some REALLY NICE less expensive zigbee temp sensors with screens that take aaa batteries and last for a really long time and you aren't tied to govee's cloud - you can use them with any zigbee gateway including but not limited to home assistant.
They show as Bluetooth, not wifi

these got detected by my home assistant and integrated very easily. While it's not wifi, depending on your current integrations, and hardware, it might work well enough. To be fair, I also have a Shelly blutooth device that's powered by wall outlet, which I believe acts as a bluetooth proxy to relay.

A gateway makes them wifi capable.

The description says Wi-Fi is not supported.

I had Sen-Gled with Zigbee and other products, the interfaces and pairing technology were horrendous. I have found Govee to be so simple to setup and maintain. I do like the mesh boost you get from the Zigbee devices, but it was so horrible before. My home network is stable and customized enough having a separate IoT network that hasn't ever given me issues.

Bought two packs two years ago. The display of one unit stopped working a month ago, the other is still working fine. These have only bluetooth connection, no wifi. Of course, when you use the app to check the temperature history, the app can send the data to the cloud.
The batteries last a few months.

Exactly. These are Bluetooth LE devices. Home Assistant can detect them with the Govee Bluetooth integration provided you have a BT LE capable adapter. These have been rock solid for me for a couple of years now. They're technically not intended for outdoor but I even have one in a spot where it receives minimal sunlight and is protected from the rain.

I've only had a couple of months, but love it.. I was hesitant, since it wasn't Matter/Zigbee/Z-Wave/Wi-Fi. But somehow, being Bluetooth worked out surprisingly well.

If you were trying to do the "future compatible" thing, wouldn't you be switching to mattermost?

Can these send mobile notifications if the temp reaches a set point similar to their water leak detectors? Would be useful to be notified if my apartment is on fire when I am not home.

This model does integrate with Home Assistant, and works with several different long range Bluetooth adapters
