No one cares about Adidas anymore. The brand is weak.
You say weak and yet we have seen two world records (Sabastian Sawe set the official world record of 1:59:30 at the London Marathon and Yomif Kejelcha set the current men's half marathon world record of 56:51 in Buenos Aires this past week) in pairs of adidas' Adizero Adios Pro Evo 3. Out of curiosity, what shoes do you find to be strong by comparison?

How is adidas weak? They make arguably the best racing shoe (Evo Pro), arguably the best value tempo/daily trainer (EVO SL), and a number of other running good shoes, mostly in their Adizero line.

That's what I did. An unfortunate young lady on my daughter's cross country team has parents who are both cheap and ignorant on shoes (she's been running in budget Under Armour cross trainers), so I stacked this with the sale price on a pair of EVO SLs, effectively costing me only $76.

That shoe makes Adidas no money. HOKA went from $10m in annual sales to $2b per year without producing a fast shoe. I'm talking about business.

Those two shoe models make up less than 0.3% of total revenue for Adidas. They're irrelevant shoes worn by a small minority. Adidas is weak in the middle of the bell curve where most shoppers are found.

Specifically, for that Evo SL, it made waves with a small niche demographic of runners over 2 years ago. Who cares? It's a shoe that only a small demo is willing to purchase and wear.

What shoes do you believe matter, then?

So in your world $2B annual is business, but $28B annual is weak?

Directionality is all that matters. Not the current base.
