They might sound ok but 500w is a ridiculous number. They're probably closer to 20 watts continuous. How do I know? The speakers use a tiny 12V 2A wall wart style power adaptor to power both speakers, so there's only 24 watts total power going in. You can't output 20 times more power than what's going it. Power doesn't work that way. The law of energy applies everywhere, and power cannot be created or destroyed, only changed forms.

Someone posted a review that they opened up one of these and found the amplifier is rated for 15w. I'm not even sure how they can say these are 250w RMS. Just straight up false advertising.

My guesstimate based off the input power was pretty close then

yup. I wonder if they listed 500watt peak as like a "yes, if there's a power surge, for a brief moment, the speakers will be able to output 500 watts. and then they'll melt" haha

I use to install car aftermarket electronics in the late 80's. early 90's. We use to call them ILS watts. RMS watts means root means square but in simple terms it means continuous power. ILS watts is the wattage you can get "If Lightning Strikes" LOL
