I'm liking the specs and reviews so far. Waiting on some comments here for validation.

Actually a 400nits FHD+ (16:10) IPS touch display.
Backlit keyboard. 8GB RAM + faster 128GB UFS 2.2 (than eMMC) are the big plus.
But the price is not really appealing (to me at least)

That's a much better laptop but about 50% more expensive.

OLED means less battery life, so does Windows and you might want a 'basic school use' laptop locked down to Chrome over Windows depending on your kid.

It references Google AI pro as a trial to try with purchase of this but does anyone know if these also include some of the trials the "plus" labeled Chromebooks are getting?
12/mo GeForce now, 3/mo Google One, 6/mo Lumafusion, and YouTube premium?

For what it's worth I just got the 4gb memory version of this laptop from Bestbuy for $189 and it included all the free offers for 3 months of Gemini, GeForce, and 1 month of Xbox Gamepass. They are all available to click on inside the OS. settings

All Chromebooks give you 1 year of Google One (100GB) for a year. ONLY Chromebook Plus devices (not this one) give you Google AI Pro for a year (5TB)-- This one gets you that same Google AI Pro (5TB), but only for 3 months.

K-12, absolutely. Most of those schools use Edsby, Cleverr, iReady, myON or Canvas, which are ALL online web based interfaces, and this is the desktop version of Chrome. If your kid is 12 and under, you can make them a supervised Google account with Family Link, and set free parental controls and timers. If they're prepping for, or going to college, it depends on the major. If they're only going to study, use Canvas and Microsoft 365 (web based app version ONLY), with some Youtube, Spotify and Netflix as recreational, yes, it's a good device that's dead simple to use. If they need to download a program, or anything more advanced, cross shop and maybe lean more towards a Windows device, ideally with an Intel or AMD processor, as Snapdragon has SOME potential to have incompatibility like Chrome when it comes to programs.

Good call. BestBuy website listed it as No but Lenovo website said Yes. Rolled the dice and picked it up yesterday and can confirm it does have backlit.
