Like "you will own nothing and you will be happy about it" kinda business here. I think their printers are like those bs "we only give you a license, and you don't own anything" kinda situation. Search up on Google on this. Sure this might be very functional. But I am sure there are better ones with full user rights that you won't have to fight for to use any way you want.

It isn't a rage bait comment. If you've been following, Bambu has been extremely anti-open source, for locking things down on the cloud, locking out users on local networks, etc. They've stepped back since the backlash was so poorly received. So absolutely justified to share this type of feedback, considering the future of your device could be at risk. Great machine, but it's something that should be considered.

They prevent third party accessories, force users to go through the cloud risking security and ip, violated open licensing and threatened legal action against those who respect open source. Anti competition and anti consumer. But you probably already knew that.

I'm not happy about some of the stuff Bambu has done lately but I have 4 brands of 3D printers and the Bambu ones seem to require less maint than the others and the maint they do require is quicker to fix than the others. YMMV Support has been top notch as well. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another.

There's basically no reason to use their filament. Their spare parts are reasonably priced.

If you have security or privacy concerns, use Bambuddy and skip their cloud.

Seriously, buying software and finding out they can just discontinue it whenever.

Please do not support this type of nonsense on any level.

Right to own right to repair. Freedom!!!

Yet let's consider the other side.

I recall a few decades ago Mac was pretty tied down and guess what, they were the reliable ones.

So, if you control who can mess with your hardware you can quality control it.
If you are the only ones and don't bother with certifications and trials of outside companies, then you have a lot less headaches.

Creality is the wild, wild west. The exact opposite of what we are looking at here and I have really no clue as to what add-on broke what!

I still expect what I bought to keep running at least the same way as the day I bought it. Never remove features that's just dishonest.

Since you have 4 other brands of 3d printer, could you please name the brands and what your assessment is for those brands based on your experience.
I am looking at getting a 3d printer and was settling on Bambu A2L or P2S( still debating the size vs material capabilities) for the ease of startup use of the printer from this brand.
But have been concerned with some of the recent issues that have been reported on Tom's Hardware about the open source conlficts and litigation that has been ongoing.
Also considering Prusa printers but they seem a little pricier than the Bambu for comparable printer but I like they are open source supportive and quite reliable from what Claude has been able to aggregate from forums and reviews.

I have experience with Creality printers and Anycubics. I finally picked up an A2L for size and X2D for material capability. Very happy with both of them so far.

i dunno man, i've loved using my X1C, had it for a few years now. i had an issue with one of my textured build plate early on, sent them a message and was given a code to get a replacement through their store without an issue. their support is topnotch as well as their tutorial videos.
i'm coming from a few different Creality printers, back before CoreXY was mainstream... the difference in both the prints and quality of product was night and day. obviously these days, others have caught up with the CoreXY style, but are still lacking in the available support area and build quality.

the only people screaming "screw the customer" are the opensores crew... yeah, BL products are locked down and controlled, that's why they work so well and can provide the level of support they do. i don't want to fiddle with opensores crap, i just want my product to work... much like Android phones, it ain't 2010 anymore and I don't want to put CyanogenMod on my devices anymore, i just want tools that work in 2026.

if you want a printed to be a tool and not the hobby... go BL, there's no comparison.

I'm not an "open source" crew guy, but my experience was not the same as yours regarding their CS. The few times I reached out to them they basically told me to jump in a lake as they told me "consumables" are not covered under warranty, which surprises me that they covered a new build plate for you. I had a nozzle issue & a filament sensor issue (can't remember the 3rd one) and in both cases they showed me which parts to buy, but I had to pay for it. They weren't expensive parts, but it was them not covering the parts on a pretty new printer that bothered me, and both were manufacturer issue. I had better service in both response time and eagerness to help on both my Elegoo printers. My k2 plus I haven't needed CS yet (knock on wood). I love my P1S, but it's not because of Bambu's support.

I did just remember that they rendered my Panda Touch useless with a firmware update, but their CS is what turned me off more.

Would you mind telling me why the X2D vs the P2S. I was looking at that also and like the dual nozzle capability.
Also, since you have both, do you find yourself reaching for the A2L more or the X2D for printing out PLA/PETG filaments?

Less waste and faster because of the dual nozzle
