The Shakespeare Micro series line of rods are considered a good value, if you want to step up, Okuma Celilo or Shimano Sensilite

Walmart has some lews ultra light rods with fast action that I have used the past couple of years without issue. I usually used the in my kayak which would occasionally snag branches while I would paddle. I don't think I've ever broken one, and even a small fish is fun to reel in on these ultra lights.

Looks to be nearly identical to my pfluger president xt 25 and I paired that with a lightweight fenwick that is great for drop shots and wacky worms.

I wouldn't. This reel isn't made for that. Sabikis are too stiff and this reel is spec'd for 110 feet of 4lb test mono. I use 2lb test on mine for trout.

Penn was a better deal for reels, as far as rods I go with ugly stik, west marine has a 20% sale ending today, if you need substantial amount of gear. Make sure to get the rod with no inserts on the rings. Other than that I wouldn't buy this at this price point. They had 2500 Penn battle 4 79.99$ 2 weeks ago at west marine, I'd take that any day over this.

I wouldn't think a 2500 would work well as an ultra light set up.

You should maybe not comment on fishing deals.
Your suggestion is like telling somone who want a 12 foot skiff to fish to get a 30foot open fisherman instead

Depends what you use as bait, how deep and how heavy cover

I'd put 4-10lb braid on it and have no issue catching any bass.

I have both Daiwa 75-sized and Pfluger President 25-sized reels and Daiwa is so much a joy to fish with compared to Pfluger. The biggest advantage is its larger spool diameter that significantly reduces line memory and twist. Also daiwa's handle can be easily fold down through a push button for storage and transportation, whereas President needs to loose up the handle cap in order to do the same.
